Biodun Jaiyesimi was born in 1968, in Ijebu Igbo, Ogun State, Nigeria. He moved to Ikenne at age seven and attended Mayflower School, where he channelled his ‘mischievous energy’ into academics.
He has three siblings from his mother and five from his stepmother, making a total of nine siblings. His father had two wives.
Initially interested in becoming a pilot, he decided to train as an architect due to financial constraints. He studied architecture at university but later transitioned to chartered accountancy and business administration after moving to the UK in 1991.
Biodun eloped to the UK with his late wife, who passed away in 2019. They had two sons, born in 2003 and 2005. His wife was born in Wakefield, UK, and they faced social class challenges from her family due to their different backgrounds.
Upon arriving in the UK, Biodun worked in manual and administrative jobs, including refuse removal and administrative roles in local government.
He transitioned to entrepreneurship, engaging in trading, property investment, and financial trading. He never practiced architecture despite his degree. He bought his first house for £14,000 with his credit card.
Biodun specialises in financial trading, particularly in the American stock market, where he employs strategies like short selling.
Biodun is a Christian and attends a local church. He has a strong belief in God and attributes his faith to personal experiences and challenges he has faced.
He is involved in the O5BM community group and values helping others. He enjoys assisting friends and less privileged individuals, finding satisfaction in solving their problems.
Biodun plans to spend time in warmer climates like Florida and Dubai while maintaining a base in the UK. Eventually he would like to spend different parts of the year in different locations, preferably warm.
He reflects on his career choices, particularly the time spent studying architecture, which he never used. He emphasises the importance of following one's passion and helping others.
