12 October 2024 – Some members of the Over 50s Black Men (O5BM) participated in an Oral History Training, which was conducted by the Essex Record Office. The Essex Record Office (ERO) is the repository for records about the county of Essex in England. The office is run by Essex County Council (ECC).
This is part of the upskilling for the Diasporic Oral History Project for the Over 50s Black Men Forum (Soro Soke – ‘Speak Up’).
The training, which was delivered expertly by Kate O’Neill, the Sound Archivist for Essex Record Office, started at 10am and finished at 2pm. The training was held at Essex Record Office, Wharf Road, Chelmsford, CM2 6YT and the session included:
At the end of training, all participants were presented with Certificates from the ERO. All delegates were very impressed with the newly acquired skills and knowledge and asked for more of such opportunities.
